Il Bacaro

Loved this little restaurant. Slightly off the beaten track so not touristy. Had a shared platter of meats and cheeses to start. Then wild boar pasta with chestnut sauce. Delicious. Lovely white wine. Really enjoyed it here.

Fabulous restaurant. Lovely staff. Great service. The best carbonara we have ever tasted! We both wished that we hadn't shared it as a starter, but had a whole portion each. Delicious! Amazing cheesecake too! Grazie mille

We had an excellent meal. Frederico's recommendations on meal selection and wine were perfect! The setting was charming. I have been eating at the restaurant many times over the years and it gas evolved into our go to place in Rome.

Sorry to say that I was really disappointed. The food was completely tasteless and anonymous. I've eaten in Italy, say 200 meals at least, and this stands out as one of the most boring experiences ever - simply no character!

Everything perfect: great food, environment, employees. We will repeat if we ever come back to Rome. Do not hesitate to go to Il Bacaro, you'll love it!

The service was warm and friendly. The food was excellent and the wine selection was very good. All in all it was fairly priced and I would not hesitate to recommend to friends and family. I will definitely return when next in Rome. x

Location gradevole nel cuore di Roma, accoglienza molto cortese. Sostanzialmente pietanze di standard medio spacciate per "gourmet", conseguentemente prezzi troppo alti per i piatti proposti. Buono per gli stranieri....

Do they have a new owner or cook? I read in a book this restaurant but would not recommend it: the rocket salad was already brown coloured, the waitress seemed to have no pleasure in serving her clients , she looked very insecure; my angus steak was just oily and salty, bit boring; it was not clear to new customers that there is also a menu of the day; lights were too low at first, couldn't read the english translation because of the also very small typography; temperature bit chilly inside; and when I replaced the candle a dead spider was underneath. We made a reservation online, but the waitress seemed to be surprised and did not know. Positive: good and tasty wine. Bad: far overpriced.

Salve, sono andato al Bacaro parecchie volte perchè mi piace molto. Non ero andato da parecchi anni, e sono rimasto un deluso perchè l'antipasto (insalato di polpo con patate) era di livello molto medio (lo posso fare migliore a casa). Invece la pasta era ottima (con gamberi e tartufo). Il prezzo del vino e anche un punto molto negativo (piu di due volte il prezzo nelle enoteche, e esagerato). Etienne

It was very hot sitting inside. Despite booking with Quandoo, we were not expected. Luckily we were early and space was found for us inside. The orecchiette Alla carbonara with grated truffles on top was superb.
