American cooking and service. Good story, but not the best food.

The food and wine pairings are fantastic. The food is just so filled with flavor that I'm sold on the slow food movement. The hosts are great and the history of the place is jaw dropping. A drink in the ancient wine cellar is a must. Definitely recommend.

Bad service. Waited two hours to get our appetizers. Owner family was flippant. Food was terrible.

It’s a Mother, Father, Son team. We were here four years ago and returned last night and were not disappointed. Food, service, Wine all exceptional. Incredible food and service. The owner works the floor and has great insight on the history of the building, area, and Rome in general. Our last night in Rome and we asked the waiter to pick our dishes. All were incredible. The owner helped with the wine and selected a great bottle, 1/2 the price of what I was willing to pay. 10/10 restaurant.

Excellent restaurant. Would recommend it to others. The staff entertains as well as nourishes you. The clientele are mainly English speakers.

We loved the history of this restaurant. The owner was extremely attentive to every table and his pride in his restaurant as well as his humorous nature was what made this an enjoyable experience. Some of the dishes were quite good but others were not. I hesitate to say that because we were treated very well and the service was spectacular.

This was a wonderful meal! While on the more expensive side for many Roman restaurants, it was worth every penny. My husband and I shared the vegetables en cocotte for an antipasti, and also shared the fusilli as the first course. The vegetables were each cooked perfectly, and the fusilli was nicely al dente with an excellent tomato sauce. As our mains (or secondi piatti) I had the pork dish they are known for, while he went with the Piedmontese steak. Both were delicious, but I definitely had order envy. Frankly, most Roman restaurants don’t do steak or beef very well, but this piece of meat was delicious and cooked exactly right. You can order steak with confidence here! And of course the wine cellar is a must see - but in addition to being a “neat” selling point (older than the Colosseum!) - it’s well stocked with a great selection. Highly recommend this restaurant and we will be back!

Posto molto curato, da vedere la cantina più antica del Colosseo . Menù scelto è buona carta vini. Il servizio non è velocissimo, ma la bontà dei piatti vale l'attesa

The atmosphere is great; the winner is genial and tells a great story about the origins of the building and ancient walls of previous buildings on the site that line his wine cellar. The menu is well executed and the dishes unique: stewed pork prepared from a recipe by the chef to Julius Caesar. I had the pate as a starter, delicately flavored and the pork as my main dish did not disappoint. I first dined there on a business trip back in 2004 and wanted to return with my wife so she could experience it. If you're ever in Rome, Spirito di Vino, is a cant-miss for dinner.

A Very comprehensive and Good value tour It was a pleasure to meet Alberto and learn from his knowledge.It was particularly nice not having to queue.

In una via tranquilla di Trastevere abbiamo trovato un angolo di storia, cordialità, simpatia, cura del dettaglio e gusto. Il menù ha piatti composti da ingredienti locali e seguono i principi dello slow food. Il pane fatto con i grani antichi e' spettacolare. Consiglio di non perdere i piatti a base di verdure e i formaggi!

We had again a wonderful evening in this very nice place. We were there last year for the first time and this year was even better. It is very nice to see and to enjoy the art of the chef making new dishes with classic ingredients. Gracie

Bel posto, dicano del 900 (non 1900!). Eravamo in due, alcuni piatti ottimi, alcuni buoni. Il padre fa cameriere ed era pronto da discuttere tutti i piatti, é molto simpatico. Direi che la presentazione dei piatti é più avanzata che la cucina. Ma, in tutto, una bella serata, cibo buono, scelte di vino anche, siamo partiti molto soddisfatti.
